How To Clean Without Removing It Egr Valve 2005 Lincoln Signature Town Car
Well, I've been servicing these cars since 1994 and I only merely recently figured this out. Perhaps there are already numerous threads on the subject only mods you might want to stick this thread since this is one of the most common problems on our cars.
The EGR passages, as we all know, tend to clog. I know I've spent more than money repairing this one trouble than anything else on my cars (including my Big Restriction Upgrade!). The EGR is mounted so information technology's nigh impossible to reach on '91-'95 models. That makes it expensive to diagnose and repair!
At present I finally know the underlying cause: Bad valve seals. We all also know that these cars came with cheap valve seals from the factory (thank you lot, Ford, you edible bean-counting, penny-pinching pinheads!). It turns out ane side issue of leaking valve seals is excess carbon buildup/coke in the intake that clogs the EGR.
So, if y'all take a '91 - '95 Town Automobile with aluminum intake and over nigh 80K miles, you demand new valve seals. I recently spent the money to replace mine. Now I don't fire any oil and all the EGR bug have stopped! It's a phenomenon!
Newer models also suffer from this problem, though information technology is not as bad. Starting in '98 the valve seals got better. I have had no problems whatsoever in my '98 Grand Marquis which is approaching 150K miles now. I haven't spent one penny on EGR-related repairs on this motorcar, nonetheless I've spent nearly $3000 on my '95 Boondocks Automobile to combat these problems!
I've also had to perform a fuel injection system cleaning to fight carbon buildup in my cars with aluminum intake every 20K miles or so. I am hoping the new valve seals will reduce the need for this besides. Carbon tends to buildup everywhere inside the aluminum throttle body, intake, and cylinder heads. This requires an expensive flushing treatment (about $120 per pop) at least every 2 years if not once per year.
When the buildup gets bad enough, chunks of carbon tend to pause loose within the engine. They then can get stuck in the EGR, causing it to stick open. This causes extremely rough idle and a "Check Engine" light. If you're lucky, the chunk volition suspension loose and gratis itself, causing the MIL to go off and the trouble to correct itself. This could salve you an expensive repair.
Now that the valve seals are replaced on my '95, I am hoping (and praying) these problems volition go away for the foreseeable futurity. So, thank you once over again Ford. By saving a few cents when my car was built, you lot've cost me $3000 in repairs! If I started adding up all the money I've spent combatting this problem on all my cars, I'd probably get really steamed. Anyone know a good lawyer??
